Expecting a blessing....

I accidentally wrote this (see subject) on my Facebook profile and got a whole bunch of people thinking that I was pregnant! Well I am not pregnant, but I am happily married for almost three months now and may things have happened in our lives in that short time. We have seen both God's hand and the enemies attacks in major ways

I'll start with the bad news: The week before we got married Ben had his car "Overhauled" and even though it took a while and cost quite a bit of money we were excited to start our life together with a car in great working order, and that was the case for a while..... but on our way to Tortuguero ( on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica) with a couple of friends a belt broke and we were stuck on the side of the road. We finally flagged down a tow truck (no small miracle) and made our way to a mechanic shop in the city of Guapiles. There we left the car and proceeded the rest of the way by bus. Well to make a long story short it appears as if during the course of the weekend someone did some serious damage to the car and when we arrived back it was in worse shape than when we left it! Now it has been at another mechanic for more than a month and we are trusting the Lord for yet another miracle to pay for the repairs. Besides that both of our laptops were out of commission (mine is now fixed, but cost $185!) and we are struggling to pay our bills.

Now for the good news: God is good, all the time! And we are seeing Him do exciting things though our ministry. On July 5th we began our first Creative Arts focused Discipleship Training School and the students have been learning about Hearing the Voice of God, Worship, The Kingdom of God and The Arts and Missions, as well as participating in drama, guitar and craft workshops. During the first week of the school the students helped with a Creative Arts camp for local children and youth held here at our base by a team from Canada which was a huge success. We have also been training teams from the USA in a program called Mission Adventures and sending them to share the gospel and build houses all over Costa Rica. It is our desire to extend the Kingdom of God and and He has been faithful to send people to participate with us in fulfilling the Great Commission. Another big thing is that Youth With A Mission celebrates it's 50th anniversary this year and we have the privilege to join our founders Loren and Darlene Cunningham, along with many fellow YWAM staff from all over Central America in San Jose for a three day celebration. We are really looking forward to learn more about what YWAM has been doing around the world, remember the past, and look forward to what the Lord has for us over the next 50 years.

At the moment we are in need of increased financial support to cover many expenses. One big one is Ben's DTS fees, we have paid a part, but still owe $700 for the training phase (we will be in touch again soon about the outreach phase which begins Sept 27). We don't have an exact figure on the car yet, but it will probably cost around $400. And the cost to repair Ben's laptop is yet to be determined. Please pray and ask the Lord if He would have you give toward any of these specific needs or if He would have you support us with a set amount per month. We are eternally grateful for your prayers and encouragement!
